ShockWatch Multi-G Clip – When to Use the Multi-Threshold Impact Indicator

The ShockWatch® Multi-G Clip is a surface-mounted impact indicator designed to show multiple impact thresholds on a single device. Unlike standard Clips or MiniClips, which activate at one G-level, the Multi-G Clip includes three separate tubes—typically 25G, 50G, and 75G—allowing you to see not just whether an impact occurred, but how severe it was.

What Is the ShockWatch Multi-G Clip?

The Multi-G Clip is a single-use, surface-mounted impact indicator that attaches directly to the product. It contains three sealed glass tubes, each calibrated to a different G-level. When an impact exceeds one of those thresholds, the corresponding tube activates and permanently turns red.

This gives you a clear, tiered record of mishandling severity.

How the Multi-G Clip Works

The Multi-G Clip uses SpotSee’s proven reactive-liquid tube technology:

  • Three tubes are mounted inside the Clip housing
  • Each tube is calibrated to a different G-level
  • When an impact exceeds a threshold, that tube activates
  • The activation is permanent and cannot be reset

This provides a tamperproof, multi-level record of impact events.

When to Use the ShockWatch Multi-G Clip

The Multi-G Clip is ideal when you need more detailed impact information than a single-threshold indicator can provide. Typical applications include:

1. Warranty and service diagnostics

  • Determining whether damage was caused by minor or severe impact
  • Supporting warranty claims with clear evidence
  • Identifying repeated mishandling at different severity levels

2. High-value or sensitive equipment

  • Medical devices
  • Optical systems
  • Precision instruments
  • Industrial tools

3. Products with complex handling environments

Ideal for equipment that moves through multiple stages of assembly, testing, storage, and distribution.

4. When you need more than a simple yes/no indicator

The Multi-G Clip shows which level of impact occurred, not just that an impact happened.

Multi-G Clip vs Standard Clip vs MiniClip

All three devices use the same core tube technology, but the Multi-G Clip provides additional diagnostic detail:

Feature ShockWatch Clip ShockWatch MiniClip ShockWatch Multi-G Clip
Impact Thresholds Single Single Three thresholds
Best For General on-product monitoring Small devices Diagnostics and severity analysis
Mounting Surface-mounted Surface-mounted Surface-mounted

Installation Best Practices

To ensure accurate performance:

  • Mount on a rigid, non-flexing surface
  • Ensure the indicator is visible for inspection
  • Select the correct G-range based on product fragility
  • Use secure mounting hardware or adhesive as recommended

Benefits of Using the Multi-G Clip

  • Three impact thresholds in one device
  • Provides detailed severity information
  • Highly tamper-resistant
  • Ideal for warranty and service diagnostics
  • Clear, irreversible evidence of mishandling

Is the ShockWatch Multi-G Clip Right for Your Application?

Choose the Multi-G Clip if you need a surface-mounted impact indicator that shows multiple levels of impact severity for diagnostics, warranty validation, or high-value equipment protection.

Good Life Innovations, as a SpotSee partner, can help you select the right Multi-G configuration and integrate it into your manufacturing or logistics workflow.
