ShockWatch Tube – When to Use the Embedded Impact Indicator

The ShockWatch® Tube is SpotSee's original impact-indicator technology — a compact, highly sensitive tube designed to be embedded directly into products, packaging or custom housings. Unlike adhesive labels or external indicators, the Tube is built for integration by the manufacturer, giving a discreet and reliable way to detect mishandling from within the product itself.

As an authorised SpotSee partner, Good Life Innovations supports manufacturers and engineering teams in selecting and integrating ShockWatch Tubes into their equipment, packaging and quality-control processes.

What is the ShockWatch Tube?

A single-use, irreversible impact indicator available in several sensitivities, identified by T-numbers: T-30, T-40, T-50, T-60, T-70, T-80 and T-85. When an impact above the selected threshold occurs, the indicator permanently turns red and cannot be reset.

Because it is designed for internal mounting, the Tube suits manufacturers, equipment makers and packaging engineers who need impact monitoring built in rather than stuck on. Once embedded it cannot be removed, switched or tampered with unnoticed.

When to use the ShockWatch Tube

  • Manufacturing and assembly — medical devices, optical systems, precision instruments, electronics and control units
  • Warranty and service validation — tamperproof evidence that helps distinguish a product fault from impact damage
  • Calibration-critical equipment — laboratory instruments, measurement devices, scientific equipment
  • Equipment with custom housings — fitted inside enclosures, frames, panels or brackets where adhesive indicators cannot be used

How it compares

Feature ShockWatch Tube ShockWatch Clip ShockWatch Label
Mounting Inside the product On the product surface External adhesive on the carton
Visibility Hidden Always visible High, with a framing label
Tamper resistance Very high High High
Best for Integration during manufacture Equipment-level monitoring General shipping

Housings for the same tube

The Tube, Clip, MiniClip and Flex all share the same tube-based activation, so sensitivities stay consistent across the family. The difference is how and where the tube is held:

Fitting best practice

  • Mount the Tube in a rigid, non-flexing area of the housing
  • Use a secure bracket or enclosure
  • Select the sensitivity to match the fragility of the product
  • Keep the indicator accessible for inspection during service

Benefits

  • Discreet, tamperproof impact detection
  • Suits integration during manufacture
  • Clear, irreversible evidence of mishandling
  • Supports warranty and quality-control processes
  • Available in several sensitivities
