Who we are

We specialise in the production of innovative products and 'smart materials', using colour changing graphic technology and communication tools known as thermochromics, hydrochromic and photochromics but can also use pressure to create visual changes.

Good Life Innovations Ltd trades under the following trade names: Colour Changing and SFXC. We also supply products and materials to online stores in South Africa and Australia.

We may collect your personal data from third party manufacturers who may pass us your enquiries relating to products for us to respond directly to you.

How we use your data and our lawful basis for processing

We may require the personal data identified above primarily to allow us to perform our contract with the customer and to enable us to comply with legal obligations. In some cases, we may use personal information to pursue legitimate interests of our own or those of third parties, provided the data subject’s interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests. The situations in which we will process personal information are identified below. 


We hold the personal details of our customers, so that we can provide support on the products that we sell to our customers, as well as being able to manage the relationship with our customers, such as billing and other management information. We may also obtain collect your payment details from you when we are processing payments. Where appropriate, we share your personal data with trusted third parties. Please see below under the heading “Who might we share your data with?” for more information.

The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract between the customer and us and/or taking steps, at a customer’s request, to enter into such a contract.

Please note, we may use your bank details to process payment but we do not store any bank or credit card or other payment details for our customers as all payments are processed through third party payment providers.

Website users can submit enquiries online via this website. We will use the personal data that you provide us with to respond to your query, this may be via telephone or email. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract between the customer and us and/or taking steps, at a customer’s request, to enter into such a contract.

  • Trusted sub-contractors for the purposes of manufacturing your products or part of our products.
  • Any employees, agents or service providers of Good Life Innovations Ltd.
  • Any cardholder who has purchased products on your behalf.
  • Where we are required to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation or to protect the rights, property or safety of Good Life Innovations Ltd and our customers. This includes but is not limited to exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection, credit risk reduction and dispute policies.
  • Third party payment providers for the purposes of taking payment from you such as Shopify, Apple Pay and PayPal, their Privacy Policies can be viewed on their respective websites.
  • Service providers who provide IT and system administration services.
  • Professional advisers including lawyers, bankers, auditors and insurers who provide consultancy, banking, legal, insurance and accounting services.
  • HM Revenue & Customs, regulators and other authorities based in the United Kingdom and other relevant jurisdictions who require reporting of processing activities in certain circumstances.
  • Third parties to whom we may sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business or our assets in the future. 

International Transfers

For the purposes of taking authorised payments we use third party payment providers who may be located or who may store your personal data outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”) including:

Shopify (specifically Shopify’s affiliates Shopify Data Processing (USA) Inc., Shopify Payments (USA) Inc., and Shopify (USA) Inc.) - Shopify complies with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from data subjects in the EEA, and with the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information from data subjects in Switzerland. In this regard, they have certified that they adhere to the Privacy Shield Principles of notice, choice, accountability for onward transfers, security, data integrity and purpose limitation, access, recourse, enforcement and liability.

PayPal – whose operations are supported by a network of computers, cloud-based servers, and other infrastructure and information technology, including, but not limited to, third-party service providers. The parties mentioned above may be established in jurisdictions other than your own and outside the EEA and Switzerland.  These countries do not always afford an equivalent level of privacy protection.  PayPal have taken specific steps, in accordance with EEA data protection law, to protect your Personal Data.  In particular, for transfers of your Personal Data within PayPal related companies,  they rely on Binding Corporate Rules approved by competent Supervisory Authorities (available here).  Other transfers may be based on contractual protections. 

Apple Pay - All the information you provide may be transferred or accessed by entities around the world as described in this Privacy Policy. Personal information, relating to Apple services, regarding individuals who reside in a member state of the EEA and Switzerland is controlled by Apple Distribution International in Ireland, and processed on its behalf by Apple Inc. Apple uses approved Model Contractual Clauses for the international transfer of personal information collected in the EEA and Switzerland. Apple, as a global company, has a number of legal entities in different jurisdictions which are responsible for the personal information which they collect and which is processed on their behalf by Apple Inc. For example, point of sale information in our Retail entities outside the U.S. is controlled by our individual Retail entities in each country.

How long we retain your data for

We keep your personal information to enable your continued use of our website, for as long as it is required in order to fulfil the relevant purposes described in this Privacy Notice, as may be required by law such as for tax and accounting purposes, or as otherwise communicated to you. For example, we retain your transaction history so that you can review past purchases and the addresses you have orders shipped to.

Our payment providers may retain your personal data for different periods, please check their Privacy Notice/Policy for further information.

If the provision of personal data is part of the contractual requirement between us and you there may be possible consequences of failing to provide the personal data. For example, we will be unable to perform the contract if we do not have the personal data requested from you or we may be unable to provide you with any of our products that you have purchased.

Your rights as a data subject

At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

Right of access – You have the right to confirmation as to whether or not we process your personal data and, where we do, access to the personal data, together with certain additional information. That additional information includes details of the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal data concerned and the recipients of the personal data. You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you and providing the rights and freedoms of others are not affected, we will supply to you a copy of your personal data within one month of your request.

You can check the information that we hold about you by e-mailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

Those circumstances include: the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed; you withdraw consent to consent-based processing; the processing is for direct marketing purposes; and the personal data have been unlawfully processed. Right to object – you have the right to object to certain types of processing only to the extent that the legal basis for the processing is that the processing is necessary for: the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of any official authority vested in us; or the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us or by a third party. If you make such an objection, we will cease to process the personal information unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. If you object to direct marketing we will cease to process your personal data for this purpose.
