ShockWatch® L-Series – When to Use the Legacy Tube-Based Indicator
ShockWatch® L-Series is one of SpotSee's original tube-based impact indicators. Although newer solutions such as ShockWatch Tube with Clip/MiniClip housings are now more common, L-Series remains a trusted choice for heavy-duty shipments that require maximum visibility and a robust mounting plate.
What Is ShockWatch® L-Series?
L-Series is a self-contained impact indicator that uses the same glass tube technology found in modern ShockWatch Tube products. The difference is that L-Series integrates the tube into a rigid, high-visibility plastic housing with a large mounting footprint.
- Large, highly visible design: Ideal for deterring mishandling.
- Integrated mounting plate: No separate Clip or MiniClip required.
- Durable construction: Suitable for industrial and heavy equipment shipments.
- Clear activation window: Easy for handlers to inspect.
When Should You Use L-Series?
ShockWatch L-Series is best suited for shipments where:
- Maximum visibility is required to deter rough handling.
- Large, flat mounting surfaces are available.
- Industrial or heavy equipment is being transported.
- Legacy processes already specify L-Series in SOPs or QA documentation.
Because L-Series is a single integrated unit, it is often preferred in environments where simplicity and ruggedness matter more than compact size.
L-Series vs ShockWatch Tube (Clip/MiniClip)
- L-Series: Large, rigid, highly visible, integrated housing.
- Tube + Clip: Modern equivalent for large flat surfaces.
- Tube + MiniClip: Best for smaller flat surfaces.
- Tube + Flex: Best for curved or uneven surfaces.
All options use the same tube-based activation technology, so sensitivity levels remain consistent across the product family.
