ShockWatch MiniClip – When to Use the Compact Surface-Mounted Impact Indicator

The ShockWatch® MiniClip is a compact, surface-mounted impact indicator designed for smaller equipment, instruments, and devices that require on-product monitoring. It works just like the standard ShockWatch Clip but in a reduced footprint, making it ideal for applications where space is limited or where a full-size Clip would be impractical.

As an authorised SpotSee partner, Good Life Innovations helps manufacturers and logistics teams choose the right MiniClip sensitivity and integrate it into their quality-control and handling processes.

What Is the ShockWatch MiniClip?

The MiniClip is a single-use mechanical impact indicator that attaches directly to the product. When an impact above the selected G-level occurs, the internal tube activates and permanently turns red, providing clear, irreversible evidence of mishandling.

Because it mounts on the product itself, the MiniClip stays with the equipment through assembly, storage, shipping, and internal handling.

How the MiniClip Works

The MiniClip uses SpotSee’s proven glass-tube activation technology:

  • A sealed tube contains a reactive liquid
  • When an impact exceeds the rated threshold, the liquid moves into the activation chamber
  • The indicator permanently turns red
  • The activation cannot be reset or reversed

This provides a tamperproof record of mishandling that remains visible throughout the product’s lifecycle.

When to Use the ShockWatch MiniClip

The MiniClip is ideal when you need on-product impact monitoring but have limited mounting space. Typical applications include:

1. Small or compact equipment

  • Handheld devices
  • Portable instruments
  • Small medical devices
  • Compact electronics

2. Products that are unpacked and repacked

The MiniClip stays with the product even when packaging changes.

3. Internal logistics and multi-stage handling

  • Assembly lines
  • Calibration processes
  • Service and repair workflows

4. Situations requiring tamperproof evidence

Because the MiniClip is mounted directly to the product, it cannot be removed or replaced without detection.

MiniClip vs Standard ShockWatch Clip

Both devices use the same internal tube technology, but the MiniClip is designed for smaller products:

Feature ShockWatch Clip ShockWatch MiniClip
Size Larger footprint Compact footprint
Best For Medium to large equipment Small or space-restricted devices
Tube Options Single or double tube Single or double tube
Mounting Surface-mounted Surface-mounted

Need an embedded version?

If you need an impact indicator that mounts inside the product, see the ShockWatch Tube – When to Use the Embedded Impact Indicator.

Installation Best Practices

To ensure accurate performance:

  • Mount on a rigid, non-flexing surface
  • Ensure the indicator is visible for inspection
  • Select the correct sensitivity based on product fragility
  • Use secure mounting screws or adhesive pads as recommended

Benefits of Using the MiniClip

  • Compact, space-efficient design
  • Provides on-product impact monitoring
  • Highly tamper-resistant
  • Ideal for small or delicate equipment
  • Clear, irreversible evidence of mishandling

Is the ShockWatch MiniClip Right for Your Application?

Choose the MiniClip if you need a compact, surface-mounted impact indicator for smaller equipment or space-restricted applications.

Good Life Innovations, as a SpotSee partner, can help you select the right sensitivity and integrate MiniClips into your manufacturing or logistics workflow.
