Descripción

High Accuracy Liquid Crystal Colour Changing Film is a professional-grade thermochromic sheet material developed for reliable thermal visualisation, precise surface temperature mapping, and controlled colour response.

Also described as liquid crystal temperature film or precision thermochromic liquid crystal sheet for monitoring, analysis, and specialist visual applications.

Each sheet is supplied with a factory-applied adhesive backing as standard, allowing direct application to suitable smooth surfaces without the need for additional fixing methods.

Available in selected sheet sizes, this temperature-sensitive liquid crystal film produces defined and repeatable colour transitions across set operating ranges, helping users interpret surface temperature distribution in laboratory, engineering, production, monitoring, and specialist design environments.

Typical uses include: thermal mapping, surface temperature checks, airflow visualisation, product testing, monitoring, special effects, and R&D evaluation.

For applications where colour accuracy and repeatability are important, this material offers defined Colour Play behaviour and dependable bandwidth performance.

Produced from high-performance liquid crystal material to defined calibration tolerances, it is intended for applications where consistency, interpretability, and controlled response are more important than simple decorative colour change.

Choosing a Temperature Range

The first three temperature ranges are our core options and suit many monitoring and visualisation uses.

If you are unsure which range is right for your project, we recommend the SFXC Liquid Crystal Sheet R&D Evaluation Pack.

This pack includes 7 precision-calibrated liquid crystal sheets covering both the core stocked ranges and extended temperature ranges normally supplied as custom-order sheets.

It allows side-by-side comparison so you can identify the correct bandwidth before committing to a production sheet, helping reduce ordering mistakes and unnecessary cost.

Recommended for first-time users and for applications where the exact operating range is not yet known.

Available Sheet Sizes

  • 450 × 300 mm — Best for continuous coverage and larger professional applications
  • 300 × 225 mm — Useful for smaller test zones and limited installations
  • 225 × 150 mm — Well suited to sampling, trials, and demonstration work

All reduced sizes are cut from full-size calibrated material. For uninterrupted coverage and best overall presentation, the 450 × 300 mm sheet is recommended.

Available Temperature Ranges

Core Ranges:

  • 20–25 °C — 5 °C bandwidth
  • 25–30 °C — 5 °C bandwidth
  • 30–35 °C — 5 °C bandwidth

Extended Temperature Ranges (Custom Order):

  • 29–33 °C
  • 35–36 °C
  • 35–40 °C
  • 40–45 °C

Approximate Fahrenheit equivalents: 20–25°C = 68–77°F, 25–30°C = 77–86°F, 30–35°C = 86–95°F, 29–33°C = 84–91°F, 35–36°C = 95–97°F, 35–40°C = 95–104°F, 40–45°C = 104–113°F.

Availability: Core temperature ranges are normally available from stock for prompt dispatch. During periods of higher demand, they may occasionally be supplied on a short lead time of approximately 5–7 working days.

Extended temperature ranges are available on a custom-order basis only, as full sheets (450 × 300 mm), with a minimum order quantity of 10 sheets.

These custom-order ranges are supplied following consultation to confirm suitability, lead time, and supply requirements.

Custom temperature ranges and non-adhesive formats are available on request.

Adhesive Backing

Sheets are supplied with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing as standard, helping them sit securely on clean, smooth surfaces for stable and repeatable thermal readings.

Non-adhesive versions are also available on request for applications requiring alternative mounting methods, removable installation, or integration into assemblies.

Understanding Colour Change

Liquid crystal sheets show a reversible colour change when activated by temperature. As the surface moves through the defined bandwidth, the visible colours pass through black, red, green, and blue in a continuous spectrum.

Important Notes

  • Colour response is influenced by surface condition, lighting, and viewing angle
  • Designed for comparative and indicative thermal analysis
  • Handle carefully to avoid creasing or surface damage
  • For best adhesion and performance, apply to a clean, smooth, dry surface

Product images are illustrative. Actual colour response will vary depending on temperature, surface condition, lighting, and viewing angle.
